We import two different materials for the manufacture of liners for water tanks. Both the materials are exclusive to Steelfab water solutions.

0.55 Potable Aquatex PVC

Potable water tank liners are 0.55 min thick PVC material made especially for Australian and other harsh climate conditions. It is tougher than any other PVC on the market: it will still stretch but is not prone to shrinking as all soft compounds ones are; it is harder to puncture; and it can be repaired under water. The PVC weld is the strongest part of our water tank liner, unlike woven materials and HDPE/LDPE

0.8 Duplex UV Stable PVC

UV stable material is used when the Ultra Violet exposure is high or in harsher environments. It is not suitable for potable use. As a laminated product, it is very strong and hard wearing, making it ideal for Australian conditions. In Australia, the temperature can sometimes change by 30 degree Celsius in a single day. That’s why it’s so important to have the right lined water storage tanks.

Our liner factory is located in Sawyers Valley, Western Australia where we can custom design water tank liners to meet any liquid storage requirement.

So why should you chose PVC?

What is PVC? Firstly PVC is the abbreviation for Poly Vinyl Chloride and is 1.8 times the strength of HDPE/LDPE, therefore our 0.55 is the equivalent to 1.0mm material; our .8 is equal to 1.5mm but as our material is flexible, it conforms to any shape or contour; there are no folds or creases to catch on equipment.

PVC takes higher and lower temperatures than HDPE/LDPE and PVC is the only material that truly welds together.

 

We also supply liners to seal older tanks, most commonly concrete or fibreglass tanks that have leakages. Another larger part of our liner work is replacing liners for older corrugated water tanks where there liner has torn away from the top of the tank of the corrugated tank, due to seasons of continue stress. The liner material that we supply has a 250% stretch factor and memory which allows our liner to fit the tank perfectly, then return to it original position, when the tank is empty. The PVC liner eliminates a common stress factor that is usually associated with non flexible liner materials.

 

The liner can be repaired “wet or dry” This is very important, especially where water must be saved. There are many times where people expect to have their existing tank water pumped out to another tank, or even possibly dump their water… but not with a Steelfab water tank liner. We can repair any leakage and without losing your existing water.

 

Although we can supply a wide variety of liners, our most common liner is the potable food grade liner which is approved and suitable for storage of drinking water for human use. Because Steelfab water solutions is a large supplier of commercial and industrial water tanks, the water tank liners do differ according to the required tank size and application.

 

Water tank liners are available UV stabilised where an open top is required, or the liner is being used for an Earth dam. Usually, the liner does not need to be UV stabilised if it is covered by the tank roof. All Steelfab water solutions liners are welded at our factory, so we can ensure quality control is Warranted.
